Can you feel homesick for a language? That is the central question behind the project Pidgin X. Theatre maker Ahilan Ratnamohan teamed up with dozens of residents from Leeuwarden, Groningen, and Zwolle to search for the words, expressions, and grammar people miss when they speak a language other than their mother tongue. For Pidgin X, they unite as Founders of a new Pidgin language in the city where they live—a language based on all the different mother tongues spoken there.
